A progressive and parodic anime series, KYO KARA MAOH! is a comedic fantasy with openly gay characters that, with action and romance elements, appeals to both men and women. After the tables are turned on him for helping out a classmate against a group of bullies, Yuri Shibuya is transported to a fantastic world teetering on the edge of a destructive war. Because of his appearance, Yuri is made king of the Mazoku, but his pacifist nature runs counter to the Mazokus` aggression, and places them in jeopardy for the possible war.
