Part of Anchor Bay`s GIALLO COLLECTION, which celebrates the often graphic Italian thrillers of the 1960s and 1970s, THE BLOODSTAINED SHADOW certainly contains enough sex and violence to qualify for that genre. In it, a college student named Stefano returns home from school to Venice in order to visit his brother, Don Paolo, who is a Catholic priest in a small Venetian town. Upon arrival, Stefano sees immediately that his brother is troubled and learns that the source of troubles are the seances being held at a local woman`s house where some of the town`s most unsavory characters congregate. Most vexing is a rich pedophile whose crimes go unpunished because of his wealth. However, Don Paolo`s life becomes far more complicated after a murder in the town`s square that eerily echoes one that happened many years ago signals that a new rash of murders has begun. Using the serpentine waterways of Venice as a backdrop, THE BLOODSTAINED SHADOW is an atmospheric and highly entertaining thriller.
